WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a 31-year-old inmate has escaped a residential work release facility in Waterloo.
Tyangus Denyel Deering had been serving a 10-year sentence for intimidation with a dangerous weapon. In May, he was then sent to the Waterloo Work Release Facility after being granted parole by the Iowa Board of Parole.
On Friday afternoon, Deering was placed on escape status after he failed to return to work.
Police say Deering is a 6-foot-2 black man who weighs about 316 pounds. He has tattoos on his upper right arm, left forearm and right forearm.
