PALO (KWWL)--- Thousands participated in a holiday fundraiser for Eastern Iowa flood victims Saturday.
The Palo Holiday Express gave train rides between Vinton and Palo.
Iowa Northern Railway donated the train for the the day. It's was a fundraiser for the Rebuild Palo Fund and the Benton County Disaster Coalition.
''The Rebuild Palo Fund specifically gives out money to the Palo community and although they were able to give out quite a bit of money last year, they weren't able to match everybody's needs. So the demand was still greater than the need overall and we felt like there was something we could do to close that gap a bit," said organizer Renee Nelson.
Last year the event made $34,000.
