IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Iowa City's municipal government Web site was hacked this weekend with a virus that would allow someone to take control of an affected computer.
Iowa City officials say they've resolved the problem that struck during Thanksgiving weekend. The problem forced the city to shut down the Web site, and the search engine Google detected the problem and blocked access from outside users.
City officials say they've repaired the damage to the Web site, and they're stepping up security to ensure it doesn't happen again.
The officials also say none of the financial information - like credit card numbers used to pay bills - was accessed by hackers.
