DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- The closing of the Econofoods in Dubuque at the end of the year also means the end for one branch of a local bank.

Nash Finch Company, the parent of the grocery store chain, says that the Dubuque store does not fit into their future plans.

The store at 3355 John F. Kennedy Road currently employees about 50 people.  The company will not say if those employees will be offered other opportunities within the company.

The closing of Econofoods also means that American Trust and Savings Bank will have to close their branch housed inside the store.

American Trust and Savings Bank Senior Vice President Peg Hudson says they just received word today about the closing today, but says those employees will be absorbed into other bank locations.

Nash Finch also announced that they will close their Ottumwa store as well.
