WATERLOO (KWWL) - The U S Census Bureau will hire thousands of people throughout Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas between now and next spring. Up to a total of 35,000 people will be on staff during peak times.
Positions are available in every community. Those hired will work out of Census Offices located in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Ames, Des Moines, and Sioux City.
Temporary jobs range in pay from $11.50 to $20.00 per hour plus mileage for the field positions of Recruiting Assistants, Crew Leaders, Crew Leader Assistants and Census Takers. The pay for Census Clerks range from $7.50 to $12.75 per hour depending on location. There may be some opportunities for advancement.
"This is the largest civilian mobilization of workers in the history of the United States" said Dennis Johnson, Regional Director.
