UPDATE: Police charge one person in home invasion

Posted: Updated:

WATERLOO (KWWL) - Police have charged 20 year-old Rashadd Cortez Wright with Burglary in the First Degree in connection to a Waterloo home invasion.

Police say it all began at a house at 119 Conger Street.  Four people were inside a house when two men with guns broke in and demanded money. One person was able to leave the house and flag down a police officer in the area. As police responded, they say they noticed several black men running out of the house.  Police arrested Wright hiding underneath a trailer.  They say another ran across a field and got in a car.

"The suspect was trying to get away from officers by running into them with his car," said Waterloo Police Captain. Tim Pillack.

"I seen the police draw their guns and then I got up to get a better look and I heard pop, pop, pop out the window," said neighbor Laquailia Gordon.

"I asked my husband, 'was that a gunshot?' He says yeah. I didn't think anything," said neighbor Marjorie Neuenkirk.

Police say the suspect was inside the car when he was shot.  He's in a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Police say they recovered a weapon from the scene.  Police are still looking for the third suspect and are not releasing a description of that person.

The Division of Criminal Investigation will investigate the shooting while Waterloo Police investigate the home invasion.  Sources tell KWWL a pregnant woman may have been injured in the home invasion.  We're not sure of the extent of her injuries.
