MARION (KWWL) -- Marion Police say an on-duty mail carrier was found inside a home, drunk and lying on the kitchen floor.

Marion Police were called to 260 6th Avenue on November 3, 2009 for a report of an unwanted guest.

According to the Linn County Assessor's website, the house is owned by Marie J. O'Kelly.

When they arrived, police found Kristine Pflughaupt, 46, passed out on the kitchen floor of the home.

Marion Police say her blood alcohol content registered a .280 on a field sobriety test.

She was arrested and charged with public intoxication.

This is not her first run-in with the police.  According to Iowa Courts Online, Pflughaupt has three OWI's, the latest in August of 2009.  She received a suspended prison sentence for that charge.

She also has two prior public intoxication charges and had three open container charges dismissed.

Police say she was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and was on-duty at the time.

According to Rick Leyendecker, the Marion Postmaster, Pflughaupt is on un-paid leave until the police investigation is complete.
