WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senator Charles Grassley announced today that the Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District is has been awarded more than a million dollars from FEMA to help recover from the storms of 2008.

The district is getting $1,090,394 from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program

Congressman Bruce Braley says the money will be used to build a safe room that should be completed in about 36 months.

“Waverly and Shell Rock were hit devastatingly hard by floods and severe storms.  The community continues to show its resolve in the wake of the devastating disasters, and resources are still needed as Iowans strive to get back on their feet,” Grassley said. “These funds will help pay for some of the costs of repairs and expenses incurred during the 2008 disasters.”
