Teen arrested for weekend shooting

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo teenager has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred over the weekend.

According to police, 17-year-old DeShawn Donnie Brown was arrested Wednesday for intimidation with a weapon, willful injury causing bodily injury and carrying weapons.

Brown was arrested in connection with the shooting early Saturday of 18-year-old Telly Nix, who showed up in a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his left hip.

Authorities say police responding to a call of shots fired received information a suspect left the scene in an auto. Investigators stopped an auto matching the description given by witnesses with Brown and three others inside.

According to court records, Brown allegedly told police he possessed a fake gun.
