TAMA COUNTY (KWWL) -- A Michigan man was injured Wednesday when a gun accidentally went off near Belle Plaine.

Adam Post, 33, of Howell, Michigan and Leas Hill, 56, of Salem, Virginia were having lunch when Hill closed the action on a double-barrel shotgun. The shotgun fired and hit a truck about 30 feet away. Pellets bounced off the truck and hit Post in the face and chest.

Post was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters to always keep guns pointed in a safe direction.
