Sheriff's Office raises funds for K-9 program

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) - The Waterloo Moose Lodge on La Porte Road, Washburn, is hosting a Steak Fry to raise funds to support the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office K-9 Fund on Saturday, November 7th, from 5-8pm.

This is an annual event that will provide funding for the care and upkeep of the canines involved in law enforcement work for the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Currently, the Sheriff's Office employs one yellow Laborador named "Jasper". He is a narcotics and tracking dog which services all of Black Hawk County and each law enforcement agency in the county.

"We are currently looking at the possibility of adding an additional K-9 and fundraising efforts like this one is a way to provide this great resource, with no additional tax funding", says Sheriff Tony Thompson. "I certainly appreciate the efforts and the support that we have through the partnership with the Waterloo Moose Lodge."
