WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa (AP) - Authorities in Polk County say they are looking into allegations of the illegal brokering of puppies.
Authorities said Wednesday that so far, no arrests have been made. However, search warrants have been executed at a home in Windsor Heights as part of the investigation.
Investigators say they removed evidence including deceased animals from the property on Tuesday. They said tests will be performed on the dogs by Iowa State University experts.
According to officials, the case involves allegations of animal neglect and cruelty, fraud, and forgery of veterinary records. The investigation was launched after anonymous complaints were received by Windsor Heights police.
Officials said criminal charges are expected to be filled in case in the weeks to come.
