Trial set this week for Iowa mother's murder case

Posted:
GRUNDY CENTER (AP) -- The trial of a Coralville woman accused of killing one son and trying to kill another son last fall in rural Buchanan County is set to start on Wednesday in Grundy County District Court in Grundy Center.

Michelle Kehoe is charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and willful injury. Her trial has been moved because of pretrial publicity.

Kehoe is accused of killing her 2-year-old, Seth, and attempting to kill her other son, 7-year-old Sean, near Littleton in October 2008. They were traveling to visit relatives in Sumner, but never arrived.

Kehoe's attorney, Andrea Dryer, says she intends to pursue an insanity defense. The trial is expected to last about two weeks.
