IOWA CITY (KWWL) - The annual Scouting for Food drive is Saturday throughout Anamosa, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Hiawatha, Iowa City, Marion, Monticello and Washington.
People in these communities are encouraged to place non-perishable food items in a grocery sack out in front of their door by 8 a.m.
For more information, contact the Hawkeye Area Council office at 862-0541 or (877) HAWK-BSA.
All of the food donated stays within Eastern Iowa. Donations will be directed to local food banks and churches for distribution to individuals in need.
In 2008, Hawkeye Area Council communities gave 54,000 pounds of food to support local families in need.
