AMES (KWWL) - Iowa Gov. Chet Culver has announced more than $2.5 million in grants for road improvement projects.
According to Culver, the grants are a direct result of the I-JOBS initiative. In addition, the Iowa Transportation Commission granted nearly $4.5 million for trail projects across the state .
Culver says the projects are a part of Iowa's efforts to recover from the recession. He says the transportation and trails grants are supporting infrastructure needs in several communities across Iowa while boosting economic growth.
Among the projects receiving funds will be road improvement plans in Sioux City, Urbana and Polk County, the Allamakee County Mississippi River bike trail and the Principal Riverwalk Recreational Trail in Des Moines.
