JONES COUNTY (KWWL)-- People in the community of Olin were told to leave their homes Sunday night.
An anhydrous ammonia leak has caused emergency officials to issue a town-wide evacuation for Olin.
The Jones County Sheriff's Office says there is an anhydrous ammonia leak just outside the city limits of Olin on the southwest side of the town.
That's where the River Valley Co-op is located.
No one is being allowed access into the town. Residents are being told to leave the town and head north. An emergency shelter is set up at the Morley Community Building in Morley. The Red Cross will help with evacuation efforts there.
Less than one thousand people live in Olin.
Emergency crews determined early Monday morning it was safe for residents to return home.
The cause of the release is still under investigation.
