Waterloo (KWWL) -- A new biannual report on water rates shows that Waterloo residents are paying the least in the state for water.
The biannual water rate survey, conducted by the City of Ames, shows Waterloo has the lowest residential water rates in the state. The average residential customer uses about 5,984 gallons per month, and Waterloo residents only pay $9.92 a month for it.
Waterloo Mayor Tim Hurley says, "I am extremely pleased with the results of the survey. Not only do we have the lowest rates in the state, its purity from the well requires only minimal treatment, and in my experience and others', it is the best tasting."
