CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - Reports of flooding from across eastern Iowa are continuing to come in following two days of heavy rain.

MONTICELLO:

Volunteers are needed to sandbag and can go to city shop for instructions. The water is safe to drink, but residents are asked to conserve water as much as possible.

ANAMOSA:

Optional evacuations are underway along Division Street because of flooding on the Wapsipinicon River.

JONES COUNTY:

Highway 151 southbound is closed in Jones County because of water running over the road.

PALO:

The city of Palo is looking for volunteers to help sandbag. Volunteers should use Main Street to go to the Maintenance Building because Vinton Street is closed. The Linn County Emergency Management Mobile Command Center has been dispatched to Palo to help coordinate volunteers. The American Red Cross is also assisting by feeding volunteers.

CEDAR RAPIDS:

Students had to use an alternate walking route at Nixon Elementary. The footbridge from the playground to the Northbrook neighborhood is closed because of flooding. Teachers walked the students across the Northbrook Street bridge.

Linn-Mar's home opener against Cedar Rapids Kennedy was also postponed because of flooding at Armstrong Field. The school says the pedestrian bridge over Indian Creek is closed.

In Cedar Rapids, J Street SW is closed at Prairie Creek due to flooding.

People living in southeast Cedar Rapids say Indian Creek is way over its banks and ditches are full. City crews put up Tiger Dams as a precaution.

Water at the Eastern Iowa Airport's main entrance has been pumped out and both lanes are open for traffic, as normal. Flights are coming in and out.

Hard rains also caused water damage in the Linn County Supervisor's office at Linn County West, in Westdale Mall. Some offices have standing water and carpets are wet.

Prairie Creek is out of its banks at J Street SW. There is currently no threat to homes. Dry Creek is at or above bank level. St Andrews Golf Course by Council St may be impacted.

The Cedar River is expected to be at 6-7 feet in the next day which is below flood stage and will not effect roads.

Due to the high level of rainfall the sanitary sewer is beyond its capacity in portions of Cedar Rapids. Sewer crews are establishing pumps to divert the waste water into the storm system to relieve the sanitary system.

COGGON:

Several gravel roads are washed out and others are covered by water from overflowing ditches. Residents have been going to city hall and asking sandbags because water is starting to flow into garages and basements.
