Trial delayed for IA man charged in fatal beating

Associated Press - August 11, 2009 11:14 AM ET

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - The trial of a Marion man accused of beating another man to death at a neighbor's house has been reset.

Kim Polley is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Daniel Meade, of Hiawatha, on Dec. 14.

Polley was originally charged with first-degree murder. Linn County prosecutors amended the charge to second-degree murder when trial information on the case was filed in May.

A judge on Monday postponed Polley's trial from Aug. 17 to Oct. 19. Defense attorneys asked for more time to prepare.
