Crop duster crash south of Dunkerton

Posted:

BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -- A crop duster crashed south of Dunkerton Tuesday afternoon.  Black Hawk County Sheriff's Deputies say they responded at 1:52 p.m. to the crash 5 1/2 miles south of the Black Hawk County community in a cornfield.

Officials say the Air Tractor Crop Duster airplane was flown by 62-year old Larry French or Bayview, Idaho.  French, who works for South Dakota Aerospray and was subcontracted through Oelwein based Crop Care by Air, was not hurt in the crash.  French told authorities he experienced engine trouble before the crash.  The plane received extensive damage.

The FAA will be on the scene Wednesday to investigate.
