DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Dubuque County saw as much as 80 mile per hour winds Friday morning as a storm passed through. KWWL received reports of downed power lines and trees all over Dubuque County, especially near Asbury and Farley. Also a report of a barn blown down in Farley.

In the city of Dubuque there were several reports of trees and power lines down nd blocking traffic. Along Asbury road in Dubuque a tree up-rooted and fell into the parking lot at Emmaus College.

Meanwhile downtown on West 17th street a truck drove into a power line. The driver of the truck said he didn't see the line until it his his truck and wrapped around the mirror. He stayed in the car and called for help.

"They told me to get out of the passenger side so I don't get electrocuted but I had to climb across the seat and get out the passenger side," said Nick Schemmel of Dubuque.

Crews cleared the scene and no one was injured.

During the storm Finley Hospital also lost power. As of noon Friday they were running on generators and have delayed all surgeries for safety reasons.

Crews from Alliant Energy continue to receive calls about down power lines. Alliant says there were about 10,000 people without power Friday morning.

We remind you to stay away from down power lines - there is not way to tell whether they are live or not. It's best to call for help.
