Pathways benefit bike ride June 13

CLARKSVILLE (KWWL)

It's biking at its best. Bicycle enthusiasts will get a chance to ride the Rolling Prairie Bike Trail, as part of this year's Clarksville Pioneer Days Celebration, June 11-13.

Pathways Behavioral Services will sponsor the PEDAL Power Benefit Bike Ride on Saturday, June 13, at 10:30 AM. This benefit bike ride will take riders from Clarksville to Shell Rock and back on the Rolling Prairie Bike Trail. All participants will receive a FREE T-Shirt.

The Pathways benefit bike ride will promote public awareness of mental health issues, including prevention, intervention and early detection and identification.  All proceeds from the ride will be used for ongoing mental health services in Butler, Bremer and Chickasaw Counties. PEDAL stands for Promoting Emotionally Desirable Activities and Lifestyles.

The ride will start in Butler County's Heery Woods State Park, just south of the Clarksville City limits on Iowa Highway 188. Participants can take part as an individual entry or get a team of friends or co-workers together to ride as a group. The day begins with a church breakfast at 7:30 and city-wide Clarksville garage sales at 8:00, in advance of the PEDAR Power Bike ride at 10:30 AM on June 13.

Promoters are encouraging early registration for this benefit event. The minimal registration fee is just $ 5 for anyone under age 18 and $ 15 for adult riders.
