WATERLOO (KWWL) -- There was a lot of folks pulling for the Panthers today, but the cheering was no louder than at Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo. Powers has sewn a unique bond with the team. The company actually created the uniforms for about half of the teams playing in the NCAA tournament.
Powers Manufacturing also has a contract with Nike to make all of the Panthers basketball uniforms.
"It's enjoyable and we're very proud of the products we produce. We get a lot of feed back from those universities that say, hey your product wears better than any product we've worn," Vice President of Sales Scott Klieman said.
Powers makes uniforms for a variety of sports from football to lacrosse, for colleges and high schools across the country. Klieman says when it gets to be tournament time the workers at Powers pay close attention.
"It's interesting to hear different voices saying we made that jersey or we made that set of uniforms so it's fun. I think some of the people fill out their brackets based on the teams they see come through our facility," Klieman.
Powers is currently working on football uniforms for the upcoming season.
